Why We Use Date Syrup Instead of Refined Sugar
Share
At Öatgazm, we sweeten our granola exclusively with 100% pure date syrup, a minimally processed sweetener derived from whole dates. Unlike refined white sugar, which is stripped of nearly all its nutrients during processing, date syrup retains beneficial minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium.
Date syrup also has a lower glycemic index than table sugar (approximately 47 versus 65–70), meaning it causes a slower rise in blood sugar levels. In addition, it contains antioxidants naturally present in dates.
By using date syrup instead of refined sugar, we’re able to add sweetness and moisture while keeping our ingredient list clean and simple.
Serving Tip: Our granola is naturally sweet enough to enjoy on its own, but try pairing it with unsweetened yogurt or nut butter for a balanced treat.
